[edit] the TuxTruck Project

I've seen a lot of CarPC / Carputer projects around, and a few based on Linux, but decided that I want my own. Mainly, I want a custom UI for it, and I want it to be packed with features. It will be based on Linux (the Linux mascot is a penguin, Tux). I happen to drive a truck (a Ford F-250), so that's how I arrived at the name TuxTruck.

Your help is needed! Whether you can code, design graphics, or just help test, please check out the Contributing page to see what you can do!

Update 2008-05-15: So far, I've put approximately 46 hours into development. I have a working GUI prototype, and will have screenshots and a built out soon. Once I get basic music playing functionality (depends on MPlayer), I'll post a development build. I'm wrangling with some issues with mplayer slave mode right now, but it's being worked on, and something should be here within the next few days.

Update 2008-05-07: I've setup bug tracking through my Eventum installation. You can submit a bug (anonymously) by going here. You can also view open bugs by going to http://cvs.jasonantman.com and logging in with email "tuxtruck@jasonantman.com" and password "viewbugs". For now, "bugs" include bug reports, feature requests, support requests, and internal development notes and TODOs. Also check out some links that interested me, on del.icio.us tagged as tuxtruck-project.

Update 2008-05-06: It's finals week, so my school schedule is taking up a lot of my time. However, I've been able to get some work done on a sample wxPython (wxWidgets/Python) GUI. I'm not sure what language I'll end up deciding on, but this looks like a good option. Code is available in CVS, but it may be buggy, as this is a real-time development version.

I'm still in the very initial planning stages, but feel free to check out what I've come up with so far:
